Hotel Szieszta stands in the Lővérek, on the edge of the Sopron Forest Park, so the hiking trails start right at the entrance. Below, we have collected where it is worth heading for an hour, an afternoon or a whole day.
The Sopron Forest Park in numbers
Hotel Szieszta is surrounded by a forest park where a total of 220 kilometres of hiking trails, 15 lookout towers, educational trails, walking paths, forest fitness trails and well-equipped rest areas await visitors. The district is a climatic health resort, and the subalpine pine forest can be walked all year round. Below, we have collected the hiking destinations and trails most easily reached from the hotel.

Lookout towers near the hotel
The Sörházdomb Lookout is the shortest walk from the hotel; it can be visited free of charge at any time, with free parking nearby.
The Károly Lookout, Sopron’s second landmark, has a playground and a snack bar nearby, so it is a good destination with children too. Admission is charged, but our hotel guests can buy tickets at a discount.
The Várhely Lookout is the highest point in the area and can be reached along a longer section of the Ciklámen educational trail.

Educational trails and hiking routes
The Ciklámen educational trail runs for about 9 kilometres through varied parts of the Sopron Forest Park and the landscape protection area, presenting the forests, flora and cultural heritage of the Sopron Mountains. Be prepared for a longer forest walk.
For those looking for a shorter route, the approximately 3-kilometre Várisi Promenade is ideal, and it can be walked at a leisurely pace with small children or a pushchair.
Another shorter, child-friendly route is the Treasures of the Lővérek educational trail, which presents the local history of the district through eleven stations.
Of the marked trails, one of the most beautiful is the path the locals call the Alpine Path – at an altitude of about 400 metres, it winds among Scots pines, larches and silver firs. A full lookout circuit starting from the hotel can take in the Sörházdomb Lookout, the Károly Lookout, the Seven Beeches, the Várhely Lookout, the Salamander Lake and the Fáber Meadow, and can then be continued towards the Gloriette Lookout in Fertőboz.
